Digital Inclusion Fellowship (posted May 3, 2016)
The Digital Inclusion Fellowship is a one-year program that will recruit emerging leaders from digitally divided communities to work towards increasing digital literacy and broadband adoption in their cities. This group of leaders will be trained on best practices of digital inclusion work and community mobilization. Fellows will participate as a cohort nationally in trainings, attend local and national events, and serve as advocates for digital inclusion. Each Fellow will work with a local City Host organization to address local barriers to digital inclusion.
Austin Free-Net seeks a Digital Inclusion Fellow who will be responsible for enhancing existing digital literacy programming while building and expanding the capacity of community partners to deliver adult digital literacy programming. This effort may involve: identifying and developing partnerships with local community based organizations (CBOs); developing, organizing, adapting, and sharing curriculum that meets a variety of community needs; developing strategies to close gaps in digital literacy service networks; create, cultivate and organize referral networks; engaging and cooperating with existing volunteer programs; developing and leading training for volunteer tutors and digital literacy instructors; developing and deploying outreach strategies to recruit participants; providing digital literacy training and tutoring to adults; working with partners to coordinate and leverage resources; as well as performing additional duties as identified by NTEN and Austin Free-Net. The Fellow will be responsible for project planning, monitoring, and reporting.

AmeriCorps is seeking candidates for their upcoming service program.
Service with AmeriCorps is an enriching and educational experience that is unlike any other employment opportunity. A term of service lasts for 11 months, during which you will need to serve 1700 hours with one of the Literacy Coalition’s community partner agencies. During your 11 month term, you will be paid a stipend of just over $12,500, in bi-weekly payments of approximately $550. You will also receive free health benefits and many professional development trainings aimed at helping you develop teaching skills and other important skills such as networking and resume writing. In addition, AmeriCorps members are eligible for child care subsidies and food stamps. Finally, upon successful completion of your 1700 hour term of service, you will receive an education award of over $5,700 that can be used to pay off student loans or to pay for future schooling.
