Austin Free-Net Awarded $25,000 Grant to keep Senior Citizens Online

CHARTER AWARDS AUSTIN FREE-NET $25,000 GRANT AS PART OF $1 MILLION SPECTRUM DIGITAL EDUCATION COMMITMENT

AUSTIN, Texas – Nov. 27, 2017 – Charter Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: CHTR) announced that Austin Free-Net is one of the recipients of its inaugural Spectrum Digital Education Grants. Austin Free-Net will receive $25,000 to help reach its goal of teaching hundreds of underserved, low-income senior citizens how to safely and securely use the Internet during the next fiscal year.

“This grant comes just in time because another major grant we had is expiring,” said Juanita Budd, Austin Free-Net’s Executive Director.

Spectrum Digital Education is a new philanthropic initiative, designed to support nonprofit organizations that educate community members on the benefits of broadband and how to use it to improve their lives. Spectrum Digital Education grants are part of an overall $1 million commitment to provide digital education in Charter communities through financial grants, PSAs, workshops and webinars to local nonprofit organizations.

Austin Free-Net is one of 17 grant recipients nationwide chosen from among more than 200 eligible grant applications.

“We couldn’t be more pleased with the interest generated by and the quality of the submissions received for the Spectrum Digital Education Grant Program,” said Rahman Khan, Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility for Charter Communications. “After careful review, we are confident that the organizations like Austin Free-Net will help further our mission to provide communities in need with the necessary tools to grow and prosper in the digital age.”

Spectrum is committed to improving communities and impacting lives where our customers and employees live, work and play. We do this through our two signature programs, Spectrum Digital Education — focusing on helping families and seniors learn more about digital technology in underrepresented communities — and Spectrum Housing Assist, with a goal of making 25,000 homes safer and healthier by the year 2020.
